Eric Wu’s interest in commercial real estate started very early and has become increasingly multi-faceted over time.
Born in Taiwan, Eric moved to Vancouver with his family in 1995. Soon after arriving, his family opened the Pearl House Restaurant in Burnaby, where he began his applied study of customer care, hospitality and value creation. While still in high school and college – where he earned a Diploma in Hotel Management – Eric not only managed the Pearl House, but also took a deep interest in his parents’ growing real estate investment business, helping to manage their properties. Eventually in 2004, wanting to combine his passion for customer service with greater opportunities for wealth creation, Eric earned his REALTOR® license and has overseen his family’s real estate holding since. Eric now specializes in commercial real estate and land investment. With a fluency in Chinese and Mandarin, his client base comes from all over the world.
"What I enjoy most about commercial real estate is meeting and working with such a wide variety of people. I really love the challenge of trying to align the expectations of everyone involved in a deal. Particularly with land assembly, I’m trying to take steps and work out problems so that each owner wins, the entire strata wins, the buyer wins and the developer wins. It’s a complex balancing act.
"I have also, in the course of all my commercial real estate work, become increasingly fascinated with architecture, design and the science and art of how to best use a property. I hope someday to more deeply fulfill this interest by becoming a developer."
Away from work, Eric loves spending time with his wife and two children. And as an active volunteer, he coaches a youth basketball team in the Vancouver Basketball Association.
